Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks rallied late in their first-ever meeting with the Youngstown Phantoms Tuesday night but fell 4-3 while visiting the Covelli Center.
Jefferson Dahl scored twice, shorthanded in the first period and with a delayed penalty about to be called in the second. With a Tom Serratore power play goal mixed in, Youngstown held a 3-0 lead in the final minutes of the middle period. A power play score by Brock Montpetit with 1:21 remaining before intermission put the Black Hawks on the scoreboard.
Scott Mayfield helped the Phantoms reassume a three-goal edge at 9:01 of the third. Waterloo made a comeback in the latter half of the third with goals from Soren Jonzzon and Nick Ebert, but could not bring the game back even.
After five consecutive road games, the Black Hawks return to Young Arena Thursday for a New Years' Eve meeting with the Lincoln Stars.
