Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

Player News:

"Go On Dwuan" Rice (2007-08) arrived in Barre this week to help bolster our guard situation. Benson Callier (2008-09) returned as well. Both are happy to be back in Barre and are looking forward to seeing everyone at our home opener on Tuesday, February 2 against the Millrats. Aaron Cook's knee injury is behind him and is cleared to play Jay Greene (groin) left the team to go home for surgery and Brandon Cotton (shoulder) has also gone home, but is on the roster as "injured reserve". The team looks real good - they work hard and a win in Halifax will help!!! Vermont in Puerto Rico, Saturday, January 9, 2010:

We lost to the Puerto Rico Capitanes by a score of 114-103. We had the lead at 48-45, but couldn't hold on. We watched the game via the internet and the webcast was choppy and, of course, in Spanish. Troy Jackson led Vermont with 25 points and Josh Dollard (who came to the Heaves a few days before the Puerto Rico game) had 22 points. Vermont at Halifax, Saturday, January 16, 2010:

We're headed to Halifax for the Saturday game - you can watch it at http://www.rainmenbasketball.ca/ - click on the link on the right hand side to watch the game live - game time is 6:00 pm our time. Greg "the Plummer" (2008-09) is a Rainman. It'll be good to see him even in a Halifax uniform. Where o Where is Bump?

Saturday, January 23, Bump will join kids and families at the Everybody Wins-VT (a local mentoring program) Read-a-Thon at National Life at 1:00 pm. Of course, since Bump really doesn't speak, he'll help turn pages for the kids. Sunday, February 7, Bump, along with his mascot buddies, will visit Gonzo's in South Burlington for a special Super Bowl show on WCAX from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Stay tuned for details. Rumor has it, Bump will be at Woodbury Elementary School on Sunday morning, February 21 having pancakes to help raise money for the Parent-Teacher organization. On Friday evening, February 26, Bump will greet diners at the Steakhouse (one of our player friendly restaurants). Come join in the fun and have a great Steakhouse dinner! You can become a "fan" by going to Bump's Facebook site at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bump-the-Moose/192387450495 Where are They Now?

Kevin Mickens (2006-07), Maryland Greenhawks, is averaging 9 points per game. You can catch Kevin when the Greenhawks come to Burlington on Saturday, March 27. Greg "the Plummer" (2008-09) is averaging 5 points per game with Halifax. Greg's first return to Vermont will be Sunday, February 28, in Burlington. Happy Birthday to:
