Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

South Burlington, Vt.- The Vermont Frost Heaves are taking another step toward defending their 2007 ABA Championship by hosting an open tryout the weekend of July 14th in the Wayne, N.J., PAL Gym.

2007 ABA Coach of the Year Will Voigt will make the trek down from the Green Mountains, leading drills and scrimmages on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both sessions will be open to the public.

Players will be charged a fee of $100 at the door. Hotel accommodations can be made at the nearby La Quinta Inn and Suites for $89 per night for each room.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old on July 14th, 2007 to participate, and all are encouraged to enclose a recent game tape in VHS or DVD format with their registration materials.

Last year, Newark, N.J., natives Melvin Creddle and Tyrone Barley each played huge roles in helping the Heaves to the ABA championship. Creddle ended the season fourth in points per game and second in assists, and earned third-team All-ABA honors. Barley, a member of the undefeated St. Joseph's Hawks and a former Atlantic-10 Defensive Player of the Year, finished third on the team in scoring and assists. Both players offered proven work ethic and leadership on the floor, and represented the very best in ABA hoops.

The Vermont Frost Heaves will begin their title defense in November. For more information about the camp, and registration material contact Coach Will Voigt at (802) 578-4172 or will@vermontfrostheaves.com
