Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

South Burlington, Vt.-One week after re-signing power forward John Bryant, the ABA Champion Vermont Frost Heaves have made a move to firm up their backcourt, signing 6'4" shooting guard Brett Gravitt for next season.

Gravitt has played overseas for the last several years, and in 2004-05 was named MVP of the BLNO, Norway's top division, after averaging 24 points and 4 assists per game for the Froya Ambassadors. Last season Gravitt guided the Ulriken Eagles, the team led by Frost Heaves coach Will Voigt for three seasons, to a Norwegian title, averaging 16 points per game along the way. In 2006 he played for the Lausanne Morgesin in Switzerland's top division, where he led the team in three-point percentage (50%) and averaged 16 points per game. He was also a teammate of Frost Heaves forward Kevin Mickens while playing in Portugal during the 2004 season.

"Simply put, Brett Gravitt is a winner," said Voigt. "He can score, defend and has a very high basketball IQ. He also has a tremendous work ethic, and will fit perfectly with the team culture that we have created here. His experience and leadership will be a huge asset to our team. I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach Brett again."

"I feel like this is a great opportunity for me," said Gravitt. "I've heard nothing but great things about the organization, the coaching staff and the community. I played for Coach Voigt before in Norway and we have a great relationship. He knows my strengths and weaknesses as a player, and I know he will put me in the best possible situations on the court for me to be successful."

Gravitt spent his college days at South Alabama of the Sun Belt Conference, where he led the Jaguars to a 42-19 record over his final two seasons. His work ethic and passionate play on both sides of the ball led to his selection as team captain as both a junior and a senior.

The Frost Heaves have two tryout camps scheduled for this month: In New Jersey over the weekend of July 14 & 15, and in Vermont over the weekend of July 28 & 29. For registration information, go to www.vermontfrostheaves.com or contact coach Voigt at will@vermontfrostheaves.com or 802-578-4172.
