Frost Heaves Derail Express 129-73

Barre, Vt.- The Vermont Frost Heaves conceded two 3-D three-pointers in the first quarter, then picked up momentum in the second quarter to dispatch the Jersey Express 129-73 at the Barre Auditorium on Thursday night.

Seven Frost Heaves scored in double figures to help Vermont register its 14th victory of he season, with Terrance Green leading the way with 21 points. Issa Konare and Antonio Burks each added 19, while B.J. Robertson (13); Dokun Akingbade (12); Markus Austin (11) and John Bryant (10) all joined the points parade. Dwuan Rice contributed 11 assists.

Three Vermont frontliners posted double-doubles: Bryant, Konare and Akingbade, as the Frost Heaves outrebounded Jersey 77-32.

Mark Jarrell led the Express (5-4) with 26 points and four rebounds.

Vermont (14-3) will meet the Kebekwa in Quebec on Saturday at the Pavillion de la Jeunesse. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., not 2:05 p.m. as previously scheduled. The Frost Heaves return to Vermont for a 4:05 p.m. matinee with the Manchester Millrats on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium. All kids 14 and under who wear a basketball jersey of any type will be admitted at the door for half-price. The following day, also at Memorial, the Montreal Royal visit for a 2:05 p.m. tip. The Burlington High boys varsity will lead a food drive for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, so fans are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate.

Tickets for any Frost Heaves home game may be purchased at the door beginning one hour before tip-off; by going to flynntix.org; by calling 802-86-FLYNN; or by stopping by the Flynn's main box office at 153 Main Street in Burlington. Tickets for games in Barre are also available at First In Fitness in Montpelier and Allen Lumber in Barre. Vermont home games are also Webcast live and archived for rebroadcast at vermontfrostheaves.com. In addition. affiliates of the Vermont Access Network in Barre, Burlington, Cavendish, Hartford, Hyde Park, Ludlow, Lyndonville, Montpelier, Newport, Plymouth, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, Windsor and Woodstock rebroadcast Frost Heaves home games over local cable systems, and Burlington Telecom makes them available to subscribers as a video-on-demand option.
