Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
Burlington, VT- John Williams hit a jumper with just three seconds to go in regulation to send the game to overtime, then the Frost Heaves were able to hold off Manchester in the overtime session in their 106-99 victory over the Millrats.
Manchester went on a 14-3 run to start the contest, but the Heaves were able to claw back and trailed by only four after one. The game would go back and forth in the second quarter with Manchester taking a two point lead into the locker room.
The Millrats came out quick in the third going on another run, this one 11-1, but once again the Frost Heaves would climb back into the game and trailed by seven at the end of three. This set the stage for an exciting fourth quarter as Vermont outscored Manchester by seven in the final quarter, finished off by Williams's dramatic jumper to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime session, with the score tied at 99, the Heaves finished the game off on a 7-0 run to take a Champlain Cup victory over their bitter rivals the Millrats.
