
Millrats Fall to Frost Heaves in Overtime

(March 6, 2009 Burlington, VT): The Manchester Millrats gave a valiant effort to try and become the first team to beat Vermont in Burlington, but in the end they fell to the Vermont Frost Heaves in overtime by a final score of 106-99.
The Millrats started strong out of the gates by grabbing a 19-6 lead. Vermont countered with an 11-2 run to close the first quarter and trailed 21-17 at the end of one. Both teams went back and forth in the second, with Manchester clinging to a 42-40 lead at the half.
Manchester showed resolve the third quarter and led by 7, 75-68, after three quarters of play. The Millrats went on a 9-0 run to begin the fourth and held an 84-68 lead a couple minutes into the final stanza. It was at that point that the Frost Heaves began their comeback. They battled all the way back and tied it on a bucket by John Williams at the end of regulation to force overtime.
In overtime, Vermont was able to take control and defeat the Millrats by a final score of 106-99.
Manchester was led by Tommy Mitchell who had 25 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field. Desmond Ferguson contributed 16, while Al Stewart tallied 12. Marlowe Currie and newcomer Marc Mazur both finished with 10 points on the evening.
John Williams paced the Frost Heaves with 26 points. Benson Collier had a double double (21 points and 10 rebounds). Brian Graves scored 15 and Larry Turner finished with 14.
Manchester travels to Quebec City to take on the Kebs tomorrow night at 7:30 pm. The Millrats are looking for their first ever win in Quebec City.
