Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Bridgeport, Conn.) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that The Ballpark at Harbor Yard will host the second annual Circles on Sounds Frisbee Festival on June 4th and 5th.
The fun-filled family Frisbee Festival, which was held at Seaside Park in its inaugural year, is excited to call The Ballpark at Harbor Yard its home for the 2016 production. Festival activities will include all things Frisbee, including a Frisbee Golf tournament, World Champion Freestyle Frisbee players, and the always popular World Class Frisbee dogs. In addition to the Frisbees flying, attendees will be able to enjoy great food from local food trucks, craft beers on tap, as well as live music.
The Circles on Sounds Frisbee Festival returns to the birthplace of Frisbee - Bridgeport, Connecticut - and will celebrate a team sport that is on the rise. With a low incidence of concessions and a rise in youth participation, Ultimate Frisbee has a devout and growing athlete base. Fostering endurance, teamwork, hand eye coordination, and a love for the 'spirit of the game,' the sport appeals to kids and adults of all ages, and the festival will promote youth Frisbee programs in the area.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking HERE. Single Day passes cost $15.00, while 2-Day Weekend Passes cost $20.00. There are also Family Fun Packs available (two adults and two children over age 12) for Single Day or Weekend, which cost $30.00 and $40.00 respectively. Children under the age of 12 will receive free admission with a paying adult.
Bridgeport is known as being the birthplace of Frisbee, with the sport's origins dating back to the nineteenth century. The Frisbie Pie Company, which operated in the City of Bridgeport from 1871 through 1958, is where the name of the sport originated, as the company's employees would toss the pie tins through the air as a game during their breaks.
To foster and strengthen the ties between Frisbee and the Bridgeport area, the festival will feature local sponsors, musicians, athletes, and Frisbee historians. There will be a Frisbie pie-eating contest to honor the sport's namesake. An attempt to set the World Record for the most Frisbees thrown at once will also take place at the festival, hopefully putting the City of Bridgeport and Frisbee back on the pages of history together again.
Join in the fun this June at the second annual Circles on Sounds Frisbee Festival, which will celebrate sunshine, local food, great music, exhibitions, the City of Bridgeport, and the sport of Frisbee.
