San Jose Giants News Release

SAN JOSE, CA - Friday's Giants-JetHawks game at Municipal Stadium was suspended in the top of the fifth inning due to rain with Lancaster leading by a 4-1 score. The contest will be resumed on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM as part of a doubleheader with the scheduled game to follow. Per minor league doubleheader rules, the second game on Sunday will be seven innings in length. Saturday's Giants-JetHawks game is still scheduled for 5:00 PM at Municipal Stadium.

Lancaster jumped out early on Friday with two runs in both the first and second innings against San Jose starting pitcher Sam Coonrod. In the top of the first, Ramon Laureano's one-out triple plated the first run of the game before Nick Tanielu produced an RBI single to make it 2-0. The JetHawks then took advantage of a pair of Giants errors in the top of the second to extend their lead to 4-0.

San Jose's lone run over the first four frames came on a Jose Vizcaino, Jr. solo home run in the bottom of the second. The home run was the first by a Giants player this season.

Through four innings, Vizcaino's home run is the only San Jose hit of the game.

Coonrod recorded seven strikeouts over the first four innings with four runs (two earned) and six hits allowed.

The game was halted before the top of the fifth could begin.
