Fresno FC News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Famed midfielder and Los Zorros' jack of all trades Milton Blanco has officially entered the political arena, announcing Monday that he is running for Mayor of Fresno in 2020.

Blanco, 34, aspires to take his career as a professional athlete from the soccer field to City Hall as he hopes to unseat current Mayor of Fresno Lee Brand to become the 26th mayor in the city's history.

Running on a campaign of "love and family," Blanco believes the people have "an opportunity to build bridges, not walls; bring smiles, not tears; and get wins, not draws." He made the announcement in front of thousands of his biggest fans outside of City Hall on Monday afternoon, where he also broke down his campaign into three acts.

His first will be to rename Shaw Avenue to Together Way, stating that "Shaw has always been considered as a dividing line through our city, when in fact it a bridge that brings all kinds of different people together."

His second act: "No more ties. No more ties on the soccer field. No more ties in the office. No one will be allowed to tie games, wear ties, and even tie their shoes. We're going full velcro," he said to a standing ovation.

His final act brings it back to the field, instilling the value of teamwork throughout Fresno. "At City Hall we'll always stick together and work with one another to get things done. No one will get left out or left behind," Blanco said.

"I've always said the most important thing in the world is family and love," Blanco preached to his future constituents. "And love is all I have for my city and every single person who calls this place home. Here, in downtown, I believe we have the chance to rekindle our romance with Fresno like never before."
