Frenzy Duo Leads Fajardo to First Place

June 12, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cape Cod Frenzy News Release

June 12, 2007 Puerto Rico: 2006-2007 Cape Cod Frenzy stars Ismael Caro and Rob Sanders are still playing together; that is, for the Cariduros de Fajardo of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN-PUR) - the Puerto Rican professional league. Farjardo recently claimed first place in the divisional standings with a 17-10 overall mark. Fajardo has now won five games in a row, and the surge is good timing with the league playoffs approaching.

Monday night's 78-74 victory against the Leones de Ponce was Rob Sanders' debut in the BSN. Sanders had mostly recently played for the Welcoat Dragons in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Fajardo's management had been looking for a great player to add to their roster, and Caro took the opportunity to bring up his former teammate. Sanders did not disappoint as he scored 16 points and hauled down 8 rebounds in his first game, and also made two clutch free throws to seal the victory.

Another key player on the Fajardo roster with New England ties is Uka Agbai. Agbai is a former Boston College Eagle who spends his winters coaching (assistant coach at Northeastern University) and his summers playing.

Sanders and Caro led the Frenzy last season in all the key categories. Sanders and Caro averaged 21.8 and 21.5 points per game, respectively. Sanders grabbed 10.7 rebounds per contest while Caro dished out 10.2 assists and averaged 5.2 steals. Sanders, who played the whole ABA season, was a first team All ABA selection, while Caro joined the team in mid February.
