Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys are home for ten days with three games against the Lynchburg Hillcats, an off day, and then, three versus the Winston Salem Warthogs before finishing up the homestand with a Memorial Weekend series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Four More Keys For Reading
Saturday, May 17, Tuesday, May 20, Thursday, May 22 and Saturday, May 24 are all Keys For Reading nights honoring Howard County, area private schools, Washington County and Clarke County, VA. The Keys For Reading Program is sponsored by BP Solar and Sylvan Learning Centers. Students who participate must read four books in order to receive a complimentary ticket to a Keys game. Those who receive tickets are then honored at a game, on the field in a pre-game parade.
Launch-A-Ball
After the games on May 16, 17 and 23 fans have a chance to "launch-a-ball." Pre-numbered tennis balls will be sold throughout those games and immediately following the game fans toss the balls onto the field aiming for hoops, each offering a different prize. Prizes include gift packs from McCutcheon's, Skate Frederick admission coupons, Six Flags tickets, a spa or pool from Frederick Pool and Master Spa and certificates from Outback Steakhouse.
Take Over The Park
You and your company can schedule a fantasy day at Harry Grove Stadium. The day consists of playing on the field, seated massages, access to the Giant Eagle Fun Zone, and Bingo in the Keys Café. Each day is custom made for the group enjoying it. Saturday, May 17, is Rolyn Construction Fantasy Day. U.S. Army Night
Join the Keys on Saturday, May 17 as the Keys welcome the newest members of the United States Army. Recruits from the Army's Delayed Entry Program will participate in a ceremonial "Oath of Enlistment" during the pre-game ceremonies.
Martial Arts Day
Join the Keys on Sunday, May 18 as they welcome various Martial Arts schools from the area. There will be a pre-game demonstration by Bushikai and the anthem will be performed by Jhoon Rhee Tae-Kwon Do. For special ticket prices and more information call the Keys Group Events Dept. at 301-815-9900.
ESL Recognition
On May 7, pitchers, Sendy Rleal and Fredy Deza and second baseman, Omar Rogers visited students for whom English is a second language at Monocacy Elementary and Frederick High School and encouraged them to do well on their language proficiency exam. Students who receive passing marks will be given a ticket to the Keys-Hillcats game on May 18 courtesy of State Farm Insurance where they will be honored on the field before the game.
Special Game Time
On Wednesday, May 21 for just four dollars and your business card you can get a general admission ticket to the 12:05 p.m. game courtesy of the Frederick News-Post. Wednesday is also Senior Day for information on special rates call the Keys Group Events Dept. at 301-815-9900.
Meet The Keys
Join the Keys at Champions Billiards and Sports Café from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 where you can mingle with the coaches, players and staff of the Frederick Keys. There will be discounted drink prices and a happy hour buffet.
Graduating Senior Night High School seniors who show their student Ids will get in free on Thursday, May 22 courtesy of Accutech Career Institute.
Challenger Little League Game
Prior to the Keys-Pelicans game on Friday, May 23 the keys players will participate in a game with the Challenger Little League. The Challenger Little League is comprised of kids who are mentally and physically challenged. Two members of the Challenger Little League were this year's "Joel's Kids." Because of them the Challenger Little League was awarded $25,000 dollars to purchase new equipment and uniforms.
Patriotic Jersey Auction
The Keys will be sporting red, white and blue instead of orange and black on Saturday, May 24. Special jerseys will be worn for that game and auctioned off during the game. After the game the purchasers will receive the jerseys off the players back. Ticket Availability Kids 12 and under can get into the stadium for free Monday-Thursdays by wearing their little league uniform or showing their library card. General Admission seats for kids 12 and under, senior citizens, and active military personnel are $5. Adults can purchase general admission seats for $8. Reserved box seats are $9 and field box seats are $11. Children 5 and under are always admitted free.
