Corpus Christi, Texas: June 9, 2004 – Corpus Christi Rayz Owner and President, Doug Frank was honored at the 2004 Central Hockey League Spring Conference this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. The weekend concluded with an awards banquet where Frank was named the recipient of the first annual CHL Leadership Award – presented to the CHL owner who has most distinguished themselves in the area of franchise development and overall contributions to the league.

Frank, who owns both the Rayz and the New Mexico Scorpions, said the award meant a lot to him. “I am very flattered that the league and my peers honored me in that way,” said Frank. “I just try to do what’s best for my franchises and the CHL.” Frank took over ownership of the Rayz in December of 2002 and has controlled the Scorpions since the 2001-02 season. In his first full year heading two teams in the CHL, Frank was constantly on the move to evaluate both organizations on, as well as off, the ice.

The recipient of the award is determined by the Central Hockey League front office. CHL President, Brad Treliving, said that Frank earned this award with his dedication to his teams and the league. “Doug Frank continues to be one of the Central Hockey League’s most highly respected owners, and his passion for both the business and sport of hockey is unsurpassed,” said Treliving. “The Central Hockey League is extremely pleased to honor Doug as the first-ever recipient of the CHL Leadership Award.”

Rayz Vice President of Sales, Pat Dunn, who was the teamÂ’s General Manager for the 2003-04 season was also honored at the banquet, earning a nomination for the CHLÂ’s Soul of Service Award. The award is presented to the CHL executive who has best demonstrated the qualities of excellence and dedication to providing outstanding customer service. In addition to his role as GM, Dunn filled a role in sales, marketing and served as interim Head Coach of the Rayz for 22 games.

The Corpus Christi Rayz are currently in preparation for their seventh professional hockey season in Corpus Christi. Make plans to be a part of all the fun and excitement as the Rayz bring a new look to Corpus Christi for the 2004-05 CHL season. Season tickets and corporate packages are currently available.
