Frank Kinney Named IHL Executive Of The Year

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League are proud to announce that team Governor and Chief Financial Officer Frank Kinney has been named Executive of the Year for the 2009-10 season. The award, voted on by the IHL Board of Governors, is Kinney's first since the Icehawks joined the new IHL in 2007.

Kinney was involved in the negotiations that made the Icehawks a reality in 2007, and has performed accounting and financial duties for the organization ever since. Michael Franke of the Fort Wayne Komets had won the award the past two seasons.

"I am sincerely honored by this acknowledgement and hope to continue to live up to the standards from which this award is presented," said Kinney. "This award is shared with our great team at the Icehawks and the IHL front office staff, who, relentlessly help maintain the League's ability to support the member clubs." Kinney will be honored at Port Huron's first home game of the 2010 Turner Cup Playoffs Saturday, April 24 when they take on the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 p.m.

In other front office awards for the 2009-10 season, Fort Wayne's David Franke was named General Manager of the Year, Bloomington's Bryan Bloodworth was named Public Relations Director of the Year and Fort Wayne's Bob Chase won Broadcaster of the Year. Referee Scott Hoberg was named Officiating Staff Member of the Year.

Last season, the Icehawks were named Member Club of the Year, and Coach Stan Drulia was named IHL Coach of the Year.
