
IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Twenty-Six

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Fort Wayne center Leo Thomas has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Fort Wayne right wing Sean O'Connor has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 11th, 2010.
Thomas finished Week 26 scoring four goals and dishing out four assists, with a plus/minus rating of plus-seven in four games played. He recorded points in all four games, including three straight multi- point contests, to give him eight points during the four-game point streak. Thomas netted his first hat trick as a member of the Komets Saturday, which included the game-winning tally in Fort Wayne's 5-2 win against Dayton. All three of his goals came even-strength. The 28-year-old Toronto, Ontario native currently ranks leads the Komets in goals scored with 33 this season, with three games remaining. His 33 goals also rank him fourth among IHL scoring leaders.
Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Zach Pearson, Dayton forward Corey Couturier, Flint center Pascal Rheaume, Muskegon defenseman Mario Larocque, Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso and Quad City right wing Chris Lipsett.
O'Connor wrapped up the week recording four goals and two assists with a plus-five rating in four games played. After being held scoreless in the Komets 3-0 shutout of Muskegon Wednesday, O'Connor responded by scoring four goals in the last three games of the week. His biggest night of the week was Saturday, when he scored two goals and one assist in the Komets 5-2 win over Day- ton, netting the Komets first and fourth goals of the contest. He completed the week with a three- game goal and point streak. The 23-year-old Brownstown, Michigan native is currently third among IHL rookies in scoring with 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points in 69 games played. His 23 goals and 51 points also lead all Komet rookies in scoring.
Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Nick Elligsen, Dayton forward Mike Vaskivuo, Flint forward John Mori, Muskegon defenseman Matt Krug, Port Huron left wing Mickael Bedard and Quad City Brandon Marino.
Boucher completed the week with a 4-0-0-0 record, playing 240 minutes in four games. He earned his third shutout of the season, turning aside all 27 shots he faced from the first-place Lumberjacks. He followed up the shutout performance playing three games in three nights, allowing only 10 goals against in those three games for a goals against average of 2.50. Boucher made a total of 117 saves in the four games, posting a .921 save percentage. The 29-year-old native of Cobble Hill, British Co- lumbia currently ranks second among IHL goaltenders to teammate Tim Haun in goals against aver- age (2.51) and save percentage (.921). He is also third among netminders in wins, recording 23 this season.
Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Andrew Martin, Dayton's Derek MacIntyre, Flint's Sergei Zvyagin, Muskegon's Matt Lundin, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Jerad Kaufmann.
