Rochester Rhinos News Release

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Rhinos 20th season is now underway and we are celebrating with a Rhinos Legends game on Saturday, June 27th at Sahlen's Stadium prior to our Hall of Fame Night festivities and Rhinos home game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. We are proud to announce the next two legends selected are forward Darren Tilley by Team Demmin and defender Mali Walton by Team Andracki.

Darren Tilley, selected by Team Demmin, played for the Rochester Rhinos from 1998 to 2000. Tilley was a prolific goal scorer during his time with the Rhinos netting 39 goals in 72 appearances. He is the Rhinos all-time leading playoff scorer with 10 goals & six assists in only 14 games played. In addition, Tilley holds the records for having at least one point in 14 consecutive matches and nine game winning goals both occurring during the 1998 season. Tilley, originally from Keynsham, Somerset, England, played professionally in the A-League for the Rochester Rhinos, Toronto Lynx, Montreal Impact and Vancouver 86ers. He won the Canadian Soccer League's Golden Boot by notching 20 goals in leading the Mississauga Olympians to the semifinal in the Canadian Soccer League in 2002. Tilley returned to the Rhinos and managed the team in 2008 and 2009 leading the team to the semifinals of the USL First Division playoffs in 2008.

Mali Walton is joining Team Andracki for the Rhinos Legends game. The midfielder/defender was a member of the Rochester Rhinos from 1997 and 2002. Mali, originally from Flint, Michigan, spent time with the Detroit Neon (indoor), Tampa Bay Terror (indoor), and the Richmond Kickers before finding a home in Rochester. While with the Rhinos, Walton logged appearances in 146 total matches and was a vital cog in the wheel that helped to lead the Rhinos to their 1998, 2000, and 2001 A-League Championships and their 1999 US Open Cup title. Mali played indoor soccer with the Indiana Blast, St. Louis Steamers (indoor), and the St. Louis Illusion after the Rhinos prior to retiring as a player to coach soccer at the college and youth soccer level.

"There are so many great memories from my time in Rochester. First of which is winning four championships with a great group of talented players. Secondly, my favorite memories include the whole of the City of Rochester, the fans, and getting involved in the community (The Flower City Soccer Club). Finally, seeing my teammates start families and my son being born in Rochester round out my favorite memories of my time in Rochester," said Walton.
