Florida Seals News Release

Defenseman Mike Fournier of the Orlando Seals has been named to the WHA2 all-star team, replacing his Seal teammate Joe Pecoraro who is recovering from a knee injury.

Fournier has recently moved to right wing for the Seals after joining the team as a defenseman. In 17 games he's amassed one goal, seven assists and 75 penalty minutes. In replacing Pecoraro, he fills in for another player who recently switched from defense to center. In 22 games Pecoraro has six goals and eight assists for 14 points, is a +7 and has 20 penalty minutes. He suffered his knee injury at Lakeland on January 9th.

"It's really disappointing for Joe that he won't be able to play in the all-star game, he certainly deserved that honor and recognition," Seals coach Jim Paek, who will also coach Team WHA2 against the host Jacksonville Barracudas on Tuesday night, said. "But until he knee gets back to 100% it's not worth risking a further injury. And Mike has certainly been a good impact player in this league."

The Seals return to action Saturday at Miami at 7:05 and play Sunday in Jacksonville at 6:05 p.m. The Seals return home to face the Macon Trax on Wednesday January 28th at 7:05 p.m. All Seals games are broadcast via the internet at www.IRN.FM while Saturday's and Sunday's games will both also be broadcast on AM 740 The Team. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, and online at www.ticketmaster.com. For more information call the Seals at (407) 447-PUCK (7825).
