Four Titans Survive Cuts For Team Canada

October 23, 2009 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 23) -- Four current Orlando Titans players remain in contention for roster spots as Team Canada pared its roster to 30 for the 2010 World Championships.

Titans players Matt Brown, Jordan Hall, Pat Merrill and Matt Vinc were among the 30 players listed on Team Canada roster following Friday's cut-downs. Hall and Vinc were members of Team Canada in 2006, which won the gold medal at Worlds.

Hall finished second on the Titans in scoring last year, tallying 81 points on 25 goals and 56 assists. A versatile player, Vinc has emerged as one of the top goaltenders in the National Lacrosse League but is attempting to make the team as a defenseman - a position he plays in the professional outdoor league. Merrill, a former number one overall pick in the NLL Draft, is in his 4th season in the Titans organization and remains one of the league's top defensive players. Brown is in his first year with the Titans after being selected in the NLL Dispersal Draft from the Portland LumberJax following the 2009 season.

Team Canada will need to make seven more cuts to get down to its final 23-man roster. The 2010 World Championships are slated for Manchester, England in July.
