Merrill and Hawksbee Down Under

Edmonton, AB-Edmonton Rush Brodie Merrill and Ian Hawksbee have made their longest commute of the season this October as they traveled to Melbourne, Australia for the first ever NLL All-Star Series. The Rush duo has already played the first game of a two-game series from Friday, October 23rd to Saturday, October 24th at Hisense Arena. The games start at 7:00 p.m. Melbourne time or 2:00 a.m. Mountain Time on Friday and Saturday mornings.

The game will be a warm up for the Rush players as they prepare for the 2010 season, which begins on the road Friday, January 15th in Everett, Washington against the Stealth. The Rush home opener is Saturday, January 23rd against the Buffalo Bandits at Rexall Place.

Merrill and Hawksbee are representing the West squad as they take on the East. Each team will have NLL stars paired with Australia's best box lacrosse players. Some of the notables on the East squad include Anthony Cosmo (Boston), Geoff Snider (Philadelphia) and Mark Steenhuis (Buffalo).

The East All-Stars defeated the West All-Stars, 24-16, at Hisense Arena in Melbourne, Australia in the first game on Friday. Game Two of the LeasePlan NLL All Star Series takes place on Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. Melbourne time/2:00 a.m. Mountain time.
