Four-Time All-Star Leveille Back with Odessa
ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes announced today that forward Dominic Leveille will be back with the team for the 2010-11 Central Hockey League season. The upcoming year will be Leveille's fifth in a Jackalopes sweater and his seventh as a professional.
The 28-year-old Leveille (luh-vy-YAY) finished last year with 23 goals and 53 assists for 76 points, putting him sixth in the league in assists and 10th in overall points. He was particularly effective on the team's power play where he tallied 30 of those helpers.
That production continued into the postseason where the forward added a pair of goals and 12 assists in 13 games.
During Leveille's career in Odessa he has averaged over a point a game with 318 points (107 goals, 211 assists) in 245 contests.
"(Leveille) as been a staple of our team offensively over his time here," said head coach Paul Gillis. "Last season he improved his play defensively and was a great player for us. We expect him to continue to get better with us this year."
Leveille has been named a CHL All-Star on four different occasions - 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
The 2005-06 season was his first in Odessa. That year the St. Jerome, Quebec native scored 26 goals and added 55 assists on his way to be named a finalist for the CHL's Rookie of the Year award.
"I'm glad to be coming back," said Leveille. "It's a great team, great organization. We've been so close to reaching the finals the past two years, and I wanted to come back to try and get there this season."
Leveille currently stands fourth in franchise history with his 107 goals and 318 points. His 211 assists are tied for third in team history (Mike Rutter).
"The team looks good again this year. I just want to try and continue to have success and help us win games," added Leveillie.
He becomes the 11th player signed by the Jackalopes this summer for the upcoming season.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team will begin its 14th season in the Permian Basin with its home opener on October 28th.
