Indiana Ice News Release

24 shots - 24 saves.

The Indiana Ice looked like there wasn't much rust to knock off after the 13-day holiday break as they blanked the host Youngstown Phantoms 4-0 on Friday from the Covelli Centre.

The 24-save performance earned netminder Jason Pawloski his seventh consecutive win and his first clean sheet of the season. Josh Jacobs filled the top scoring spot with a pair of assists while Aidan Muir, Tyler Pham, Patrick Newell and Brian Pinho all lit the lamp for Indy.

In an unusual twist, the normally-potent Ice office mustered a minimal eight scoring opportunities in the second period. They would find all the offense they needed on their third shot in the frame as team captain Tyler Pham potted his seventh goal of the season to break the ice and take the lead for the remainder of the game.

Indy's special teams unit once again showed up in offensive force as three of the four tallies would come in odd-man situations, including a pair of shorthanded goals from Newell and Muir.

Defenseman Austin Kosack extended his point streak to four games with an assist on Pinho's power play goal late in the third period.

It was Pawloski's performance in net, however, that stole the show as the University of Minnesota-Mankato commit backstopped his way to his seventh-straight "W." Despite a 12-shot barrage in the third quarter, he silenced the Phantoms through all 60 minutes en route to his 13th win of the season.

The Ice remain in Youngstown on Saturday for round two of their two-game series with the Phantoms before returning to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for Monday night's "Ring in the New Year" event against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, presented by Reis Nichols Jewelers. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 pm and the first 500 fans at the door will receive a free ice scraper, courtesy of Reis Nichols.
