
Four More Signed to Riversharks Roster

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Riversharks have signed four more players to the 2015 roster, the team announced today. Two players are set to return from the 2014 squad while two new faces will make their Riversharks debut in May.
Outfielder and first baseman Ryan Strieby, 29, will be back with the Riversharks for a second consecutive season. Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 4th round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft out of the University of Kentucky, Strieby spent seven seasons in Detroit's organization, including three seasons with their AAA affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens. In 75 games with Camden last season, Strieby hit .293 with four homeruns and 33 RBI.
Right-handed pitcher Matt Gorgen, 28, will also spend his second season in a Riversharks uniform. In 2014, Gorgen appeared in 38 games with the Riversharks, posting a 1.82 ERA and leading the team in saves with 21, earning him a spot on the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star team. He spent three seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization after being drafted by the team in the 16th round of the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft out of University of California, Berkeley. He also spent time in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, including two stints with their AAA affiliate, the Reno Aces. He brings a career 17-12 record with a 2.51 ERA and 322 strikeouts to the team this season.
The Riversharks have also made their first trade of the season, acquiring Carlos Guzman, 28, from the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League for a player to be named later. The switch-hitting outfielder previously spent five seasons in the New York Mets organization, reaching as high as AA--Binghamton from 2009 through 2011. He brings eight seasons of experience to the Riversharks this season, including a career .268 average, 53 homeruns, and 313 RBI.
Left-handed pitcher and South Jersey native Zach Braddock, 27, has signed on for his first season as a Rivershark. Braddock attended both Gloucester Catholic High School and Burlington County College, and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round of the 2005 MLB Draft out of high school. He spent two seasons with the Brewers in 2010 and 2011, posting a 2.94 ERA in 2010 and recording 59 strikeouts over 71 career Major League games. In addition to spending six seasons in the Brewers organization, Braddock has also spent time in the Atlantic League, playing for both the Lancaster Barnstormers and Bridgeport Bluefish.
