Wenatchee Wild News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Wenatchee Wild dominated the first period Wednesday night and held on for a 4-3 victory over the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The win is the third straight for the Wild, who opened up a 5-game road trip in Texas Wednesday night.

The Wild came out of the gate strong and held a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Alex McLean (Duluth, Minn.) scored the first goal of the game just over four minutes into the first period on a shot from the blue line on the power play. Dajon Mingo (Canton, Mich.) assisted on McLean's goal. Nathan Sliwinski (Catle Rock, Col.) gave the Wild a 2-0 lead 3 and a half minutes later when he scored on an odd-man rush. Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.), who had just returned to the ice from the penalty box, and Adam McKenzie (Petaluma, Calif.) were credited with the assists.

Mingo made it 3-0 midway through the first period. After receiving a pass from Jeff Jubinville (Edmonton, AB) in the slot, Mingo powered through the Wichita Falls defense, deked and scored on his backhand. Michael Di Puma (Chicago, Ill.) was credited with the second assist on Mingo's goal. Mingo and Jubinville teamed up again with just over a minute remaining in the first frame, although this time it was Mingo assisting on Jubinville's goal. It was Jubinville's 15th goal of the season.

Mingo scored one goal and added two assists for his second three-point game of the season. Mingo has six points in his last three games and a plus/minus rating of plus-four.

Wichita Falls got back into the game with a goal by Ryan Frost at the 3:38 mark of the second period. The Wildcats got two more goals in the third period. The first was scored by Aaron Quick on the power play, and the second was scored by J.T. Osborn near the midway point of the period.

Wenatchee goaltender Brendan Jensen (El Granada, Calif.), who made 26 saves on 29 shots, won for the third time in as many starts. Wildcat netminder Erick Cinotti, who spelled starter Kelly Andrew after the Wild's third goal in the first period, made 18 saves on 19 shots.

The Wenatchee-Wichita Falls 3-game series will resume on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Central time. The final game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Central time.
