
Four Earthquakes Players Called for International Duty

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Four San Jose Earthquakes players have been called up by their respective senior national teams for the upcoming FIFA international window. Ousseni Bouda (Burkina Faso), Francisco Calvo (Costa Rica), Marcos Lopez (Peru), and Jamiro Monteiro (Cape Verde) will all represent the Quakes internationally in June.
Ousseni Bouda, 22, earned a call-up to the Burkina Faso National Team for two African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde on Friday, June 3 (12 p.m. PT) and Eswatini on Tuesday, June 7 (6 a.m. PT). Bouda has yet to make his international debut for Burkina Faso.
Francisco Calvo , 29, has been called to the Costa Rica National Team for three matches. Costa Rica will face Panama on Thursday, June 2 (4:30 p.m. PT) and Martinique on Sunday, June 5 (10 a.m. PT) in the Concacaf Nations League, before taking on New Zealand on Tuesday, June 14 (11 a.m. PT) in a FIFA World Cup interconfederation playoff. The winner of the playoff between Costa Rica and New Zealand qualifies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and will be placed in Group E alongside Spain, Germany, and Japan. Calvo has scored seven goals in 67 appearances for Costa Rica.
Marcos Lopez, 22, has been called to represent Peru for two matches. Peru will play a friendly vs. New Zealand on Sunday, June 5 (8:30 a.m. PT) , before taking on either the United Arab Emirates or Australia in a FIFA World Cup interconfederation playoff on Tuesday, June 7 (11 a.m. PT). The winner of the playoff qualifies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and will be placed in Group D alongside France, Denmark, and Tunisia. Lopez has made 19 prior appearances for Peru.
Jamiro Monteiro , 28, has been called to the Cape Verde National Team for a trio of matches. Cape Verde will first take on Burkina Faso on Friday, June 3 (12 p.m. PT) and Togo on Tuesday, June 7 (9 a.m. PT) in African Cup of Nations qualifiers before playing a friendly against Ecuador on Saturday, June 11 (4:30 p.m. PT). Monteiro has scored one goal in 22 appearances for Cape Verde.
