
Four Chicago Blaze Members to Compete in NWBL All-Star Game

Naperville, IL - Keisha Anderson, LaTonya Johnson, Ebony Hoffman, and Kim Williams will represent the Chicago Blaze in the 2005 NWBL All-Star Game on February 21 in Colorado, the team announced today.
Anderson, who has started all 10 games at point guard, currently leads the team with 5.3 assists per contest, which ranks second in the NWBL. In her last five games, Anderson has dished out 25 assists to just four turnovers for a 6.25 assist-to-turnover ratio. Anderson is fifth in the NWBL in steals (2.6) while her 11.5 points and 50.0% (9 of 18) three-point shooting rank second on the team.
Johnson, also of the WNBA Houston Comets, leads the team in three-point field goals (18) and has made at least one three-point basket in nine of the team's first 10 games on the season. Johnson's 1.8 three-pointers per contest ranks her seventh in the NWBL and she has connected on 46.2% (18 of 39) of her attempts from behind the arc. She is currently third on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game.
Ebony Hoffman, also of the WNBA Indiana Fever, has been a formidable presence for the Blaze during the 2005 season. The 6-foot 2-inch center has averaged 10.8 points and 7.4 rebounds (7th in the NWBL) per contest. Hoffman's 46.3% (38 of 82) field goal percentage and 60.0% (9 of 15) three-point shooting is currently tops on the team.
Williams, making her second consecutive NWBL All-Star appearance, joins Anderson from the Blaze backcourt. Williams is averaging 9.1 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per outing on the season. Her 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals are ranked eighth in the NWBL.
Basketball superstar Tamika Catchings, currently averaging 16.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists for the Blaze was also named to the 2005 NWBL All Star Team, but will not be able to participate due to previous commitments.
Chicago opened the 2005 season with a win over the NWBL defending champion Dallas Fury before dropping their next three contests to fall to 1-3 early on. The team has responded by winning five of their last six games to raise their record to 6-4, which is good for third place in the NWBL standings.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players from across the nation, including players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. 2005 teams include the Birmingham Power, CHICAGO BLAZE, Colorado Chill, Dallas Fury, Lubbock Hawks, and the San Jose Spiders.
