South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Andrew Cherniwchan. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Cherniwchan, 23, joined the Stingrays for five regular-season (three goals) and eight postseason (two goals, one assist) contests last season after finishing a four-year collegiate career at Northern Michigan University. With the Wildcats, the Hinton, Alberta, native earned 35 goals and 49 assists for 84 points in 146 games.
"I had a good experience at the end of last year," said Cherniwchan. "I got along well with the staff and really enjoyed the environment. He [Head Coach Spencer Carbery] sounded like he was excited to have me back and to come in and be hard working and more of a role player. I want to bring anything I can to the team."
