Fort Wayne's Matt Syroczynski named Easton UHL Rookie of the Month

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Friday that Fort Wayne Komets left wing Matt Syroczynski has been named Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for January.

Syroczynski completed the month with 13 points (5g, 8a) and a plus-2 rating in 13 games played. He had four multi-point games during the month, including a "hat trick" (3g) on January 20th vs. Bloomington. It was the first professional hat trick of his career. He also scored the game-winning goal in that contest. Since being held scoreless in his first 15 games of the season, Syroczynski has scored in 17 of his past 25 games. He has also registered an even or better plus/minus rating in 14 of his last 15 games. The 23-year-old native of Hamburg, New York is in his first pro season. He has collected 25 points (10g, 15a) in 40 games played this season. He ranks tenth in rookie scoring and ranks fourth among UHL rookies with six power play goals.

Other players nominated for the Easton UHL Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington forward Mike Zbriger, Chicago center Matt Amado, Elmira center David Morelli, Flint goaltender Bryan Worosz, Kalamazoo left wing Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn, Muskegon left wing Evan Kotsopoulos, Port Huron Flags center Jeremy Tucker, Quad City forward Justin Chwedoruk, and Rockford defenseman Mike Letizia.

The Easton UHL Rookie of the Month recognizes the performance of players who have played in 60 or fewer professional games and goaltenders who have played 3,600 or fewer professional minutes prior to this season.
