Former TC Cyclones' equipment manager Jorge Alves makes NHL debut
The Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League in addition to providing family friendly on ice hockey entertainment also serve a role in the development process for players, on-ice officials and team administrators. Former TC Cyclones' player and equipment manager Jorge Alves is an example of how this developmental process works.
Alves, who served as a player and then as equipment manager for the Cyclones during part of the 2007-08 season now works with the NHL Hurricanes assisting the equipment managerial staff while continuing to work out and keeping his goal tending skills sharp as he looks for playing opportunities.
He recently had the opportunity to travel with the Hurricanes on a six game two week road trip due to an illness on the equipment managerial staff. The trip enabled him to work behind the bench in venues from Los Angeles to Montreal with stops in between in Anaheim, Long Island, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
