CELEBRATION, Fla. – Peter Young, World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2) Co-founder and President, Hockey Operations today announced that Scott Allerding, has been named General Manager for the Jacksonville Barracudas.

Allerding, the former Executive Director of Sales for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, joined the Barracudas in March as the Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing. Allerding replaces Chris Rapson who resigned in early June to accept a position in Chicago.

As Executive Director of Sales for the Jaguars, Allerding was responsible for all ticket sales operations for the NFL team. He and his family have made Jacksonville their home for the past 16 years.

Allerding has an extensive background in sales, marketing, and promotion in the sports industry working for companies such as Dunlop/Slazenger Golf Company and Izod Club Golf Company.

"Scott is by far the most experienced individual in our entire league in sales and marketing", said Young. "And this year he has the most incredible new building in North America to promote along side the Barracudas. With Scott running the front office and Ron Duguay handling the hockey operations, Jacksonville's staff could be the envy of minor professional sports."

Young also announced that Woody Carlson will be joining the Barracudas as the Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting. Carlson, the ‘Cudas public address announcer this past season, is a nine year Jacksonville on-air personality. Carlson has worked for WIVY-FM, WAIA-FM, WFYV-FM, and WPLA-FM.

Barracudas internet broadcaster Howard Brigance will join Carlson in the broadcast booth for all home games and will also participate in the web casting of all games during the 2003-2204 season.

Jill Sterling will now become Director of Community Relations.

The entire Barracudas front office staff, coaches and some players will be on hand Thursday, June 26th to say farewell to their old playing facility. The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Coliseum, former home to the Barracudas, Lizard Kings, and JU basketball is scheduled for implosion on that date.

The Barracudas will play next season in the new state-of-the-art Jacksonville Arena and will face the Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, Miami Manatees, Orlando Seals and a yet to be named Central Alabama Team.
