San Diego Sol News Release
Five former NBA players are slated to play against the San Diego Sol men's basketball team in American Basketball Association action as the LA Slam come to town on Saturday, December 17 at 5:00pm inside the SportCenter at Alliant in San Diego.
LA Slam coach Don Sanchez reports that there are seven ex-NBA players on the Slam roster and that the players scheduled to take-on the Sol include Tony Farmer (Golden State Warriors), Mike Penberthy (LA Lakers), Jeff Trepagnier (Denver Nuggets), Jauquin Hawkins (Houston Rockets) and 7'3" center Keith Closs (Los Angeles Clippers).
During last year's playoffs, the San Diego Sol unseated the reigning division champion LA Slam to become the 2010 - 2011 ABA SoCal Division Champion. Sol Coach Zack Jones said, "It looks as though the Slam have beef-upped its roster from last year. This is a great opportunity for our guys to play against players who have played at the highest level."
The ABA boasts 70 teams nationwide. The Slam (5 - 0) moved to the #1 position in the ABA power rankings this week. The San Diego Sol (7 - 1) are ranked #4.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.sandiegosol.com or, on the day of the game at the box office of the SportCenter at Alliant gym. SportCenter at Alliant address is 10455 Pomerado Road, San Diego, CA 92131.
