Wichita Wild News Release
The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) signed their first player to a contract for the 2011 season on Thursday. The Wild signed defensive lineman Marques Walton. Walton played collegiately at the University of Michigan.
Walton will look to help a defensive line unit that recorded 15 sacks in 2010, which was 19th in the league. Walton played at Michigan during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He redshirted during the 2004 season. Walton made a name for himself at Mt. Carmel High in Chicago as he helped the team to a state title in 2002. He finished high school at Hubbard High School where he played with Wild defensive back Chris Patterson.
Walton moved to Wichita in July of 2009 in order to finish his degree. He is currently attending classes at Butler County Community College. Walton's dad, Larry, played six seasons in the NBA splitting time between the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings.
The 2011 season will kick-off in February with a complete schedule to be announced later this year. Season tickets start at just $80 and include FREE parking. Call the Wild office at 316-440-5044 for more information.
