Wichita Wild News Release

It is pretty rare that two athletes from the same high school football team are talented enough to play at the professional level. The 2010 Wichita Wild will have a little Maize High feel to it as two former Eagles have agreed to join the team. Kicker Dylan Pohlman has re-signed and will be joined by defensive lineman Greg Nicks on the Wild roster. Pohlman and Nicks played at Maize together from 1996 to 1997 before Pohlman headed to Tabor and Nicks headed to Butler County Community College and then the University of Kansas to continue their playing careers.

Pohlman will be entering his seventh season of professional football. In 2009, Pohlman finished 3rd on the team in scoring with 107 points. He made 59 extra points and 15 field goals including a 24-yard game winner with :05 left vs. Omaha on June 13 at Hartman Arena.

Pohlman started his professional career in Wichita with the Stealth of Arena Football2 (af2) in 2004. Pohlman also played for the af2 teams in Oklahoma City, Manchester, and Corpus Christi. Pohlman graduated from Tabor is 2003 and holds the majority of Blue Jay kicking records including Career Fields Goals and PAT's and also holds the school record for points in a career (118) and a season (58).

Nicks played full back and defensive line at Butler County in 1998 when the Grizzlies finished with a 12-0 record and won their second NJCAA National Championship. Nicks also played defensive line at Butler in 2000 when the Grizzlies finished 10-2 and #6 in the final NJCAA poll. Nicks finished his college eligibility at Kansas and was the team's long snapper during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Nicks also played guard and center on the offensive line during his time with the Jayhawks.

Nicks spent the summer of 2004 in mini camp and rookie camp as a center and long snapper with the Kansas City Chiefs. After being let go by the Chiefs, Nicks spent time as a teacher in Lawrence and was a police officer in Wichita for 3 1/2 years. Nicks currently works in sales at Kansas Building Products.

Season tickets for the 2010 season are currently on sale. Fans can purchase tickets by calling call the Wild office at 316-440-5044 or go online to www.stage1tickets.com.
