Former K-Wing Rechlicz Makes NHL Debut

ROCHESTER, MI--- Former International Hockey League (IHL) player Joel Rechlicz made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders on Thursday, March 5th. He played nearly four minutes in the Islander's 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers and recorded his first NHL point, assisting on the Islanders first goal of the game scored by Blake Comeau. Rechlicz was called-up from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL) early Thursday.

Rechlicz signed an entry level contract with the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) in May 2008. The tough right winger split time with the Kalamazoo Wings during the 2007-08 season before being called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old Brookfield, Wisconsin native scored one goal and racked up 100 penalty minutes in his 25 games played in the IHL with Kalamazoo during the 2007-08 season. He also played 25 games with Albany, posting 106 penalty minutes and adding one assist.
