Former IceCap Blanchard to Attend St. John's Camp

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (September 14, 2015) - Montreal Canadiens and St. John's IceCaps General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the IceCaps have signed left-winger Nicolas Blanchard to an American Hockey League (AHL) Training Camp Tryout Contact.

Chosen by the Carolina Hurricanes with the 192nd overall selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the six-foot-three, 205-pounder collected 14 points and 81 penalty minutes in 63 games with the IceCaps last season, when the club was affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets.

Blanchard, 28, has totalled 64 goals, 144 points and 895 penalty minutes in 531 AHL games, over parts of nine seasons, including stints with the Albany River Rats and Charlotte Checkers. The Granby, Quebec native also went scoreless in nine games with the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes in 2012-13.
