Reading Express News Release
Former Reading High and Reading Express football standout James Bryant was recently signed by the NFL's Detroit Lions as a fullback. James joins his brother, Sam Bryant in the latest local sports news.
James makes his return to the gridiron after compiling a 4-1 record as a heavyweight boxer and a three game stint with the UFL's Orlando Predators in 2010.
Meanwhile, Sam is making a comeback with the Express after a brief hiatus following a championship season in 2009.
Prior to the signing, James was playing defensive end in the CFL for the B.C. Lions. Bryant was released from the B.C. Lions just last October.
While playing with the UFL's Orlando Predators, he recorded six tackles, one sack and an onside kick return for a touchdown in a game against Tampa Bay.
This isn't the first time James has made his way to the NFL. He had a brief period with the Washington Redskins in 2009 as an undrafted free agent.
Bryant played college ball at both Miami and Louisville in the linebacker position. He graduated in 2008 from Louisville and in his senior year as a Cardinal he made 10 tackles, one interception and, had a punt return for 26 yards.
Bryant's brother, Sam Bryant, just recently came out of retirement and returned to the IFL's Reading Express for the 2012 season.
