Erie Explosion News Release
Former Erie Explosion wide receiver Ernest Jackson is enjoying his rookie season in the CFL as his team the BC Lions hold the league's best record heading into the final week of the 2012 regular season. Jackson (6'2, 220) has made his presence felt as a rookie as he has accounted for 22 catches for 300 yards and a touchdown as he has adapted to the 12 man game.
Jackson made his professional football debut for the Erie Explosion in 2011 as he was part of a receiving tandem that shattered league records on the way to a division championship. In 2011 Jackson tallied 43 receptions for 557 yards and 13 touchdowns as the Explosion averaged 70.2 points per game and had the league's top offense.
"Playing with the Erie Explosion was my first exposure to professional football as an indoor player and was a great experience. I was not familiar with the game but with great coaching I was able to learn the game quickly and develop my skills. Our offense was very explosive, and Coach Liotta was always finding ways to make the next big play in the passing game. Being in the CFL as a rookie has been a great experience overall. The transition from the indoor game to the CFL has helped because of the high motion rules and understanding how to set up your route using motion. I am continuing to grow as a player in the CFL and improving my craft each day as a receiver in this league," commented Jackson.
As a senior at the University at Buffalo the Rochester, NY native Jackson accounted for 45 catches for 507 yards and 4 touchdowns.
