Former CSUF Titan, GBL Championship Series MVP Pedroza Signed

ANAHEIM, Calif. (May 19, 2010) - The Flyers added three-time minor league all-star outfielder and reigning Championship Series MVP Sergio Pedroza, acquiring his rights from the Victoria Seals. The lefty power-hitter led the league with 20 home runs and tied for second with 81 RBI en route to a GBL Championship with the Calgary Vipers in 2009.

Manager Paul Abbott and Executive VP of Player Personnel Harris Tulchin pulled the trigger to bring Pedroza into training camp to solidify an outfield that already contains former major leaguer Ben Johnson.

Pedroza's 2009 championship with the Vipers was not his first opportunity to earn a ring. As a member of the 2004 Cal State Fullerton Titans, he helped the squad to its most recent College World Series Championship. Now he has a chance to play for the Flyers on the very field where he shined in college. In 2005, the outfielder was named Big West Conference Player of the Year.

With the Dodgers, Pedroza was named a Lo-A All-Star designated hitter in 2006, and followed up the honor as an All-Star DH in the High-A Florida State League in 2007 while with Tampa Bay. In 2008, he reached Double-A in the Devil Rays system. Last season, his first in the GBL, Pedroza's offense earned him a GBL All-Star outfielder selection.

The Flyers will wrap up training camp May 19 at Fullerton College before heading to St. George for the May 21 season opener. Orange County opens at home on Tuesday, June 15 against Pedroza's former team, the Calgary Vipers. Single game tickets are available through the Flyers' website at www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
