
Former Casper Rockies MVP gets call up

DENVER â Following this afternoon's ballgame against the Detroit Tigers, the Colorado Rockies recalled INF Ryan Shealy from Colorado Springs (AAA). To make room on the 25-man roster, the Rockies have optioned INF Tim Olson to Triple-A. Shealy will join the team for their next series in Cleveland, making his major league debut.
Shealy has spent all of this season with the Class AAA Sky Sox, batting .317 (68-for-213) with a team-high 11 home runs and 37 RBI in 57 games. The 25-year-old first baseman was hitting .337 (32-for-95) at home but also .305 (36-for-118) with eight of his 11 home runs on the road.
Colorado's 11th round selection in the 2002 June draft, Shealy in just three professional seasons has already won a league MVP trophy (Pioneer League 2002) and Player of the Year Award (Texas League 2004).
