
Former Alexandria Beetle and Green Bay Bullfrog Matt Beaty Debuts with the Dodgers

Rochester, Minn. - Former Alexandria Beetle and Green Bay Bullfrog Matt Beaty, made his Major League debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Beaty is the 213th former Northwoods League player to reach the Major League level.
Beaty, who played collegiately at Belmont University, played for the Alexandria Beetles in 2012 and the Green Bay Bullfrogs in 2014. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2015 MLB draft.
In 38 games with the Beetles during the 2012 season, Beaty hit .310 with two home runs and 11 doubles. He also drove in 26 runs and stole two bases. In 2014 with the Bullfrogs he hit .296 with two home runs, nine doubles and one triple. He also drove in 14 runs, stole eight bases and walked 31 times.
Beaty began his minor league career in 2015 with the Ogden Raptors of the Rookie level Pioneer League. After six games he was promoted to the Great Lakes Loons of the Lo-A Midwest League. Between the two clubs he hit .314 with four home runs, eight doubles and two triples. He drove in 28 runs and stole four bases.
Beaty spent the entire 2016 season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the Hi-A California League. Over 124 games he hit .297 with 11 home runs, 30 doubles and six stolen bases. He drove in 88 runs and scored 66 times.
For the 2017 season, Beaty earned another promotion to the Tulsa Drillers of the AA Texas League. In 116 games he hit .326 with 15 home runs and drove in 69 runs. He also stole three bases and walked 35 times.
In 2018 he was promoted again and spent the year with the Oklahoma City Dodgers of the AAA Pacific Coast League. With Oklahoma City he played in 120 games and hit .277. He drove in 12 runs and had 10 doubles.
Prior to being called up by the Dodgers, Beaty had appeared in 22 games in Oklahoma City and was hitting .277 with two home runs and 10 RBI.
In his Major League debut against the San Francisco Giants, Beaty entered the game in the top of the 8th inning as a pinch-hitter. Beaty would then single to center for his first Major League hit and finish the game 1 for 1.
