Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen looks to become the 12th former Milwaukee Admiral to engrave his name on the Stanley Cup, as the Flyers take on the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals beginning Friday night in Chicago.
Drafted in just the 10th round of the 1993 NHL Draft, Timonen scored a pair of goals and added 13 assists in 29 games for the Admirals in the 1998-99 season and hasn't played a game in the minor leagues since. He has spent the bulk of his career manning the blueline for the Nashville Predators before being traded to Philly after the 2006-07 season. In total, Timonen has 427 points (96g-331a) in 812 National Hockey League contests.
A native of Kuopio, Finland, Timonen has played in four Olympics for the Finns and captured a bronze medal during the 2010 Vancouver games. He finished the regular season this year with 39 points and played in all 82 of the Flyers games. He has also played in each of Philadelphia's playoff affairs, posting eight assists and 18 penalty minutes.
The last Admiral to capture Lord Stanley's Cup was Mark Eaton, who skated with the Admirals in 2000-01 and was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins when they won it all last season.
Season tickets for the 2010-11 Admirals campaign are on sale now for as little as $145. For more information or to order season tickets, fans should call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550. Don't forget to follow the Admirals on Twitter (@mkeadmirals) and on Facebook!
