
Force Wins Second Straight

KANSAS CITY, MO. -- The Cleveland Force traveled to Kansas City, Missouri and defeated the Kansas City Comets in the first meeting of the season, 21-15, tonight at the Kemper Arena. The Force won their second straight game as it posted their second straight 20 plus point game
With the victory, Cleveland improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 versus Western Conference opponents. With the loss, Kansas City fell to 5-6 overall as well as 0-1 in the season series.
The Comets opened the scoring (0-2) when Dino Delevski scored the two-point goal when the Force was unable to clear the ball out of the defensive end at the 2:18 mark of the first quarter. Cleveland defender Nevio Pizzolitto received a two-minute penalty as well as receiving a red card, which resulted in him being ejected for the remainder of the game and for the Force's next game. Cleveland successfully killed the Kansas City advantage. The Comets added to their lead (0-5) when Delevski scored the three-point restart goal off the pass from Vlatko Andonovski at the 14:59 mark.
The Force cut into the lead and got the first points of the second quarter (2-5) when Lee Edgerton scored the two-point goal off the rebound shot and assist for Joe Mattacchione at 6:10. Cleveland tied the game (5-5) when Giuliano Oliviero stole the ball and lobbed the shot over Kansas City goalkeeper Paolo Ceccarelli who was out of the net at the 6:25 mark. The Force took their first lead of the game (7-5) when Steve Butcher scored his second goal of the season. Cleveland added to its lead (9-5) when Oliviero scored his second goal of the game off the assist from Eric Kvello at the 12:48 mark. The Comets snapped a 9-0 run by the Force (9-7) when Andonovski scored the unassisted two-point goal at 14:02.
Kansas City tied the game (9-9) just 29 seconds gone in the third quarter when Andonovski scored the two-point goal off the assist from Delevski.
The Force regained the lead as they scored the first points of the final period (11-9) as Edgerton scored his second goal of the game off the first assist of the season for goalie Jim Larkin with 58 second gone. Cleveland added to its lead (13-9) when Anthony Maher stole the back pass and beat Ceccarelli for the two-point goal at 4:48. The Force continued their scoring run (15-9) when Butcher scored his second goal of the game as he chipped the ball over Ceccarelli for the two-point goal off the assist from Oliviero at 8:04. Cleveland beat the Kansas City sixth attacker (18-9) when Kvello scored the three-point goal from midfield off the assist from Chris Stathopoulos at 9:38. The Comets ended the Force 9-o run (18-11) when Goran Hunjak scored the two-point goal off the assist from Alex Zotinca at the 10:47 mark. Cleveland snapped right back (21-11) when Craig Kench scored his first goal of the season at 11:45. Kansas City cut into the lead (21-13) when Wes Wade scored the two-point goal at 12:53. The Comets continued to climb back (21-15) when Delevski picked up the hat tick off the assist from Hunjak at the 13:57 mark.
Cleveland will next travel to San Diego, California to play the San Diego Sockers in a MISL game on Thursday, December 5th at the San Diego Arena.
