
Force to Renew Rivalry this Weekend

CLEVELAND, OHIO- The Cleveland Force will return to action this Friday, October 18th and will also renew a rivalry as the San Diego Sockers come to town for a game at 7:35 p.m.
This will mark the first time in 14 years that the Sockers have played a game in Cleveland. The last time these two franchises faced off was in the original Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Championship series in June of 1988. The Sockers defeated the Force, who ceased operations after the series, 4-0 to win the MISL Championship. The game will also mark the first time that san Diego has played a game in downtown Cleveland as well as the first trip to the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
The game will mark the debut in coaching for Interim Head Coach Andy Schmetzer. Schmetzer was named Interim Head Coach on Wednesday.
Cleveland enters the contest after falling to the Philadelphia KiXX 13-5 on Sunday in First Union Spectrum. The Force is tied for third place in the MISL Eastern Conference along with the Harrisburg Heat with a record of 1-2 and is 1.0 game out of first place behind the Philadelphia KiXX and the Baltimore Blast.
San Diego comes into the game after playing just one game last weekend. Last Friday, the Sockers fell to Harrisburg Heat 13-7 in the San Diego Arena. The Sockers currently sits in third place in Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Conference with a record of 1-2 and is two games out of first place behind the Milwaukee Wave.
