
Force teammates team up on game-winning goal

ATLANTA, GA.- Cleveland Force and Atlanta Silverbacks teammates Fred DeGand and John Ball hooked up on a game-winning goal on Sunday afternoon that provided Atlanta with three points and a 2-1 victory over the visiting Rochester Rhinos.
Atlanta jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Alan Woods found the back of the net off a cross from Gary Brooks at the 13-minute mark. Rochester tied the game at 1-1 just before halftime when David Wright scored the unassisted goal in the 43 minute of action. The two teams battled back and forth until the 86th minute of action when DeGand scored the game winner off the cross from Ball.
The game-winning goal was the second score of the season fro DeGand. Fred has appeared in 15 games and has notched the two goals as well as adding one assist for a total of five points. In addition, he is tied for the team lead in minutes played with 1,454.
Ball, who missed two weeks of action while playing for the U.S. Futsal team, returned to action on August 7. John has appeared in 13 games for Atlanta and has recorded three goals and added three assists for a total of nine points.
Ball, DeGand and the Silverbacks will next travel to Syracuse, New York to take on the Syracuse Salty Dogs and Force teammates Chris Dore, Ryan Hall and Force draft pick Tim O'Neill on Friday, August 20. The game is schedule to begin at 7:30 p.m.
