Force Streaks Past Comets For Win, 8-2

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and defeated the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Kansas City Comets by a final score of 9-2 at the Wolstein Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Force moved to four games out of first in the MISL Standings and improved to 8-10 overall, 1-1 in the season series and 5-5 at home. With the loss, the Comets fell to three games out of first place while falling to 8-9 overall and 4-6 on the road.

Cleveland jumped out to the early lead (1-0) when forward Sipho Sibiya took the ball across the goal area and nailed the shot into the far post at 13:48 of the first quarter. The Force added to their lead (2-0) when forward Chris Handsor redirected the shot from defender Matt Johnson past Kansas City goalkeeper Chris Damico at 14:56

Cleveland kept the scoring attack going (3-0) when forward Tamas Weisz recorded his first career MISL goal in just his second career MISL game off the cross from forward Joel Bailey 51 seconds into the second quarter. The Force continued to roll (4-1) when Lorain native and forward Chris Dore buried a shot from beyond the yellow line off the long outlet pass from midfielder Gary DePalma at 2:51. Cleveland added to its lead (5-0) when DePalma stole the ball at midfield and went all the way down the field and scored the goal from the top of the goal area at 7:43. The Force kept the things rolling (6-0) when Handsor was left all alone and went on to score his second goal off the assist from defender Rene Rivas at 11:11. The six goals in the first half marked a season-high for Cleveland and the four goals in the second quarter tied a season-best.

The Force opened the second half scoring (7-0) when Johnson scored his first goal with Cleveland off the cross from Sibiya at 3:56 of the third quarter.

The Force opened the final quarter scoring (8-0) when Dore scored the unassisted goal just 12 seconds in the fourth quarter. The Comets snapped the shutout for Cleveland goalkeeper Jim Larkin (8-1) when Vlatko Andonovski buried a shot off the cross from Casey Stevens at 4:48. Kansas City cut further into the lead (8-2) when forward Dino Delevski stole the ball and scored the goal at 6:00. The Force closed out the scoring (9-2) when defender Rene Rivas scored off the assist from Handsor at 14:59.

The Force will hit the road for the second game of the weekend when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the MISL leading Philadelphia KiXX on Saturday, February 5.
