Force Snaps Winning Streak In Philadelphia, 8-2

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Cleveland Force traveled to the City of Brotherly Love and was defeated by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) second place Philadelphia KiXX by a final score of 8-2 at the Wachovia Spectrum.

With the loss, the Force snapped their season-high five game-winning streak and fell to 16-14 overall, 6-8 on the road, 3-5 in the season series and 24-44 all-time versus Philadelphia teams. With the victory, the KiXX improved to 19- 14 overall and 12-5 at home.

Philadelphia opened the scoring (0-1) when rookie forward John Barry Nusum took the pass from defender Edgar Bartolomeu off the boards and hit a low liner that got past Force goalkeeper Jim Larkin at 1:34 of the first quarter.

The KiXX added to their lead (0-2) when forward and head coach Don D'Ambra nailed a shot that connected on the man advantage off the cross from forward Goran Vasic at 2:23 of the second quarter. Philadelphia kept the scoring attack going (0-3) when midfielder Kevin Sloan was cutting down the middle of the goal area and tapped in the pass from forward Daniel Antoniuk at 12:04.

The KiXX opened the second half scoring (0-4) when Antoniuk headed the ball off the boards and spun around Cleveland defender Genoni Martinez and nailed the laser shot into the upper right corner of the goal at 2:03 of the third quarter. The Force cut into the lead (1-4) when forward Aaron Susi tapped in the cross from Martinez at 5:32.

Philadelphia added to its lead (1-5) when Nusum recorded his second goal of the game as he it came on power play off the feed from Sloan at 1:07 of the fourth quarter. The KiXX kept things rolling (1-6) when Sloan stole the ball at the Philadelphia and went all the way down the field for the score at 3:05. Cleveland got their second score of the game (2-6) when forward and Lorain native Chris Dore took the pass from Susi and hit the shot between KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas legs at 10:24. Philadelphia responded (2-7) when Sloan picked up the hat-trick as he scored into the empty net against the Force sixth attacker at 12:23. The KiXX sealed the game (2-8) when Bartolomeu hit the empty net goal of assist from Ze Roberto at 14:15.

The Force will have next travel to the Charm City to take on to the two-time defending MISL Champion Baltimore Blast in the first game of back-to-back road and home weekend contests on Friday, April 1. The game can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM in Cleveland as well as 1440 AM WHKW in Warren/Youngstown or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com starting at 7:35 p.m. with the pre-game show hosted by Ed "Doc" Daugherty slated for 7:05 p.m.
