Force players square off in A-League Eastern Conference Finals

CLEVELAND, OHIO - Four members of the Cleveland Force will face off in the A-League Eastern Conference Finals when the number one seeded Montreal Impact will take on the number three seeded Syracuse Salty Dogs. The Western Conference Finals will feature the number two seeded Vancouver Whitecaps and the number four seeded Seattle Sounders but will not have any Cleveland players involved.

The Impact advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals by posting a two game goal aggregate of 2-0 over the Rochester Rhinos. The Salty Dogs posted a win of 1-0 in the first game of their series with the Richmond Kickers before the Kickers tied the series with a 2-1 victory. The series winner was determined by penalty kicks in which Syracuse won by a count of 5-4.

Out in the Western Conference, the Whitecaps defeated the Minnesota Thunder by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 in the two games. The Seattle Sounders upset the number one seed Portland Timbers in the two game series. The Timbers won game one by a final score of 2-1 but the Sounders tied the series with a 1-0 regulation score in game two. The series was decided in overtime as Seattle got the lone goal in the extra session to win the series 3-2.

The Eastern Conference Finals will pit forward Joel Bailey of the Impact and forward Chris Dore, defender Ryan Hall and Cleveland draft pick Tim O'Neil of the Salty Dogs. The finals will be another on a home-and-away, aggregate-goal series that will kick off Friday, September 10 in Syracuse, New York and will finish on Sunday, September 12 at Claude Robillard Sports Complex in Montreal.

The Western Conference Finals will be another on a home-and-away, aggregate-goal series that will kick off Friday, September 10 in Seattle and will finish on Sunday, September 12 in Vancouver.
