Force Opens Home Stand

CLEVELAND, OHIO- The Cleveland Force will return home to the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University this weekend to play host to the San Diego Sockers on Friday, January 31st. The game is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. This Friday's contest against the Sockers will begin a five game home stand, which ironically will end with the Sockers on February 15th.

The game between the Force and San Diego will mark the fourth of five meetings this season. The game will also mark the second of three trips to the Convocation Center at CSU for San Diego. The Force leads the season series three games to none as they have posted two victories at the San Diego Sports Arena and was victorious on their home turf earlier this season by a final score of 10-8 on October 18th. The two teams have not played each other in over a month as the two franchises last played in the beginning of December as the Force prevailed by a score of 16-12 in San Diego.

Cleveland enters the contest after splitting a pair of Eastern Conference games this past weekend. On Friday the Force invited division rival and leader Philadelphia KiXX to the friendly confines of the Convo and handed the conference favorite a 20-10 defeat. In Harrisburg on Saturday night, Cleveland dropped a tough match to the Heat losing by the score of 17-10, evening their record to an 11-11 mark.

The Sockers come into the game on a two-game losing streak after dropping both their games last weekend. San Diego was defeated by the Milwaukee Wave 19-2 on Friday night in Milwaukee and then fell to the Baltimore Blast 17-12 in Baltimore on Saturday night. The Sockers are in third place in the MISL Western Conference trailing Milwaukee by nine games for first place. San Diego enters the game after losing two non-conference road games, dropping their season record to a 10-15 mark. As for Sunday's game, Kansas City will enter on a three game losing skid. Both teams are coming to Cleveland looking to end their losing skids before they return to conference play.
