
Force midfielder/defender helps Atlanta advance

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. â Cleveland Force midfielder/defender John Ball and the Atlanta Silverbacks of the A-League are heading to the fourth round of the 2004 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a come from behind 3-2 overtime victory over the Carolina Dynamo in the third round.
Carolina jumped out to an early 1-0 first half lead. Atlanta was able to score two second half goals taking the lead late into the game before the Dynamo was able to tie the game at the 90th minute mark and force the game into the extra session. The Silverbacks secured the win with a goal in the 120th minute of action.
Ball played a crucial role in the contest as he scored in the 75th minute to put Atlanta a head. This season for the Silverbacks, John has recorded three goals and added three assists for nine points in 15 games.
The fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup resumes on July 20th for the Silverbacks when they face off against the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS) in Clarkston, Georgia. A victory against the Wizards will bring Atlanta closer to the ultimate goal of winning the tournament.
