Force Kicks Past Philadelphia For Second Straight Win

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and defeated the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Division Philadelphia KIXX by a final score of 6-3 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. The win marked the second straight victory for Cleveland.

With the victory, the Force moved to 1.5 games of first place in the Eastern Division and improved to 3-3 overall, 1-1 versus MISL Eastern Division opponents, 1-1 in the season series and 2-1 at home. With the loss, the KiXX dropped their first road contest of the season and fell to 5-2 overall and 3-1 versus Eastern Division opponents.

Cleveland started things off fast (1-0) as defender Wendell Regis scored his first goal of the season off the cross from forward Adauto Neto playing in his first game the season. The goal came at the 1:19 mark of the first quarter. The Force added to their lead (2-0) when midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos scorched a shot to the upper ninety past Philadelphia goalkeeper Peter Pappas for his first goal of the season off the assist from forward Joel Bailey who was playing in his first game of the season at the 14:07 mark.

Cleveland kept up the scoring attack (3-0) when forward Antonio Sutton tapped in the rebound shot of Selaidopoulos for the score at 2:55 of the second quarter. The KiXX cut into the lead and got on the board with their first goal (3-1) when midfielder Damien Pottinger found the back of the net at 5:41. The Force responded (4-1) when Neto put on a dribbling display as he beat on Philadelphia defender and Papas on his way to his first goal of the season at 7:49.

The two teams battled to a scoreless third quarter. The scoreless third quarter marked the first time this season that Cleveland has held its opponent without a goal but marked the second time the Force was unable to tally a score.

The KiXX broke the scoreless second half (4-2) when Goran Vasic scored the unassisted goal at 9:18 of the fourth quarter. Philadelphia cut the lead to one goal (4-3) when Gary Brooks notched the score off the assist from Les Lunsford at 10:50. Cleveland responded (5-3) when midfielder Robbie Aristodemo nailed a header in the back of the net off the rebound shot of Sutton that deflected off Pappas back to Robbie for the score at 11:32. The Force sealed the game (6-3) when Sipho Sibiya scored the goal against the sixth attacker off the assist for Jim Larkin at 14:54.

Cleveland will play host to the MISL Western Division Kansas City Comets in the first game of back-to-back home games on Friday, December 4.
