
Force Falls to Wave in First Game of Weekend Series

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host to the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Central Division Milwaukee Wave in the first game of a home and home weekend series. The Force was defeated by the Wave by a final score of 5-4 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
With the loss, the Force falls to 6-11 overall, 3-3 versus MISL Central Division opponents, 1-2 in the season series and 3-5 at the Convo. With the win, the Wave improved to 14-4 overall, 3-3 versus Eastern Division opponents and 7-4 on the road.
Cleveland opened the scoring (1-0) when Josh Timbers found the back of the net off the pass from Justin Evans at 6:42 of the first quarter.
The Force added to their lead (2-0) when Evans scored the power play goal off the assist from Hector Marinaro at 55 seconds of the second quarter. Milwaukee cut into the lead (2-1) when Marcelo Fontana found the back of the net off the rebound shot of Matt Schmidt at 1:34. The Wave tied the game (2-2) when Greg Howes scored the goal off the pass from Schmidt at 4:35. Milwaukee took its first lead of the game (2-3) when Fontana scored his second goal of the game off the assist from Todd Dusosky at 6:27. The Wave added to their lead (2-4) when Todd Dusosky scored the power play goal off the pass from Howes at 7:56. Cleveland snapped a 4-0 run by Milwaukee (3-4) when Evans scored the header off his own rebound shot at 11:52.
The Force tied the game for the second time (4-4) when Marinaro scored the volley kick off the pass from Otto Orf at 5:12 of the third quarter.
The Wave opened the final quarter scoring and regained the lead (4-5) when Leighton O'Brien found the back of the net off the pass from Todd Dusosky at 5:29.
Cleveland will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on the Wave in the second game of a home and home weekend series as well as the final regular season meeting on Saturday, January 24 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
